Marseilles resident Christopher R. Scutt became a registered sex offender Friday in La Salle County Circuit Court.Circuit Judge H. Chris Ryan Jr. sentenced the 31-year-old Marseilles resident — per Scutt's agreement with Prosecutor Greg Sticka — to 120 days in jail, to pay a $600 fine, to serve four years of probation and pay a monthly $25 probation fee. Scutt is not eligible for good behavior, so he must serve the full 120 days. He gets credit for two days spent in jail after he was taken into custody in April. As a felon, Scutt must submit a DNA sample to state police and pay the accompanying $200 fee. He is prohibited from contact with the victim, must undergo a sex offender evaluation and comply with sex offender registration laws.Scutt pleaded guilty Nov. 26, remaining free on bond in the meantime.Scutt had sex with a girl, who was between ages 13 and 17, in November. Marseilles police and state police handled the investigation. Scutt was defended by Morris attorney Joseph A. Mueller. Scutt's codefendant, 26-year-old Joseph M. Roos, of Seneca, is free on bond and set for his next hearing Friday, Jan. 16.
